Updated - 19 May 2022, 06:19 PM
Star England National Cricket Team right-arm pacer Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the English summer 2022 after suffering a stress fracture of the lower back.
Pacer Archer last played for England in March 2021 and since then he has been struggling with injuries. He was expected to make a comeback to cricket, after recovering from an elbow injury, in the T20 Blast for Sussex, which will commence next week and he was set to play a few second-team warm-up contests before playing against Glamorgan.

However, he will no longer participate in the tournament as he has been ruled out of the English summer after suffering a back problem, confirmed ECB.
“No timeframe has been set for his return. A management plan will be determined following further specialist opinion over the coming days,” a statement read.
Notably, the English pacer has undergone three bouts of surgery in the last 14 months: one on his hand to remove a shard of glass, and two on his elbow.
Jofra Archer had also skipped the Indian Premier League 2022 after getting signed by 5-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians (MI) for INR 8 crore.
It’s definitely a concern – Rob Key on Jofra Archer and other pacers getting injured
Several England National Cricket Team pacers have suffered injuries in recent times and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is concerned about the pacers suffering injuries.
Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Ollie Robinson, Mark Wood, Olly Stone, Saqib Mahmood, and Matthew Fisher are among the pacers, who were not considered for selection for the first Test against New Zealand in June.
Meanwhile, England’s managing director of men’s cricket, Rob Key, has said that they are trying to figure out why a lot of seamers are getting injured.
“It’s definitely a concern and trying to find out why this is happening is something that we need to look into. We need to make sure that hopefully, it never happens again. But as you know with all fast bowlers, these, unfortunately, are the things that do happen – stress fractures in particular,” Rob Key, England’s managing director of men’s cricket, said on Wednesday.
