Pakistan and England go head to head in a seven-match T20I series starting with the first T20I in Karachi on September 20. The first four games will be played in Karachi and the final three in Lahore. Both teams then play a three-match Test series in Rawalpindi, Multan and Karachi. This is England’s first tour to Pakistan since 2005.

Pakistan beat England 2-0 when they last played a Test series in Pakistan in 2005. England’s last Test series win against Pakistan was back in 2000 under the leadership of Nasser Hussain. He leads England to a 1-0 series win.

Both teams have reached Karachi for the first T20I. Officials and dignitaries from both the boards have welcomed the resumption of the rivalry. This is an important series for both teams heading into the T20I series.

“We are pleased that Pakistan and England Test rivalry, which has historically produced close and tight matches, will return to our backyards in December. Both the sides have evolved since they last played in Pakistan in 2005 and have recently been playing entertaining and exciting cricket. I remain confident this series will live up to the expectations of the global cricket fans who want to watch and enjoy competitive and thrilling matches,” said Zakir Khan, PCB Director – International Cricket.

Pakistan at home are expected to win the series. They lost the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka. Except for the final game, they had a fabulous tournament where they beat India and Bangladesh among the major teams. Pakistan were whitewashed by England when they travelled to the UK in 2021.

England are coming into this series after winning a Test series against South Africa. They won the Test series 2-1. Before the Tests, the Proteas won the T20I series 2-1 and drew the ODI series 1-1.

Clare Connor, ECB’s Interim Chief Executive Officer, has also sent in her best wishes to the two teams on this historic series.

“The return of our men’s Test team to Pakistan for the first time since 2005 will be a historic occasion. The opportunity to play Test cricket in front of passionate cricket-lovers in Pakistan after such a long time is something to be cherished. We have been working closely with the PCB over recent months and I am grateful to them for everything they have done, and continue to do, to make our Test and T20 tours a mouth-watering prospect for all involved” she said.
