Pakistan Shaheens squad for Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 announced

Pakistan, on Monday (October 7), announced their squad for the upcoming ACC Men's T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup. Mohammad Haris will be leading Pakistan Shaheens in the tournament.
The sixth edition of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup is scheduled to be played in Oman from October 18 to 27. A total of eight teams will be participating in the event. Apart from the A teams from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, 3 qualifiers from the 2024 ACC Men's Premier Cup will be playing in the competition as well.
The three teams that have qualified for the tournament through the Premier Cup are Oman, Hong Kong, and United Arab Emirates. UAE had defeated Oman in the final while Hong Kong qualified for the competition after beating Nepal in the third place play-off.

The Pakistan Shaheens feature a number of players who will be representing the team for the first time. The likes of Abdul Samad, Ahmed Daniyal, Yasir Khan, and Zaman Khan will be playing for the team for the very first time.
The onus will be on captain Mohammad Haris to defend Pakistan's title. Pakistan have won the last two editions of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup and are looking to become the first team to win the tournament thrice.
The defending champions are in Group B alongside India ‘A’, Oman, and UAE. Pakistan Shaheens will begin their campaign against India 'A' on October 19. After that, they will be locking horns against Oman on October 21 before taking on UAE in their final group game on October 23.

"We commend the Asian Cricket Council for their continuous efforts to foster player development across member nations. Initiatives like the Emerging Teams T20 Asia Cup are vital for creating opportunities for young talents to grow and excel," he added.
The team will be leaving for Oman on October 16, two days before the start of the competition. Before that, Haris and his teammates will also undergo a camp at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre in Karachi from 11 to 15 October.
