PBKS vs DC: "He'd Give Me The Field That I Want" - Sikandar Raza On Playing Under Sam Curran's Captaincy For Few Games In IPL 2023

Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder Sikandar Raza opened up about playing under the leadership of Sam Curran for a few games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He said that his English counterpart gave him a lot of freedom.

Sam Curran captained Punjab Kings for a few games in the IPL 2023. He led the side in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan, who was out with an injury. The all-rounder did a terrific job as a skipper as he led from the front as well as bringing the best out of his players.

Sikandar Raza said that in their team everyone knows their roles and when Sam Curran was the captain he just gave him the field he wanted and then told him to do whatever he wanted to do.

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, he said: “It is so professional in the IPL, believe me, there’s very little that’s said here. Everybody knows their roles. Everybody is clear about their roles, so when Sam captained, we had very little chat. He’d give me the field that I want, then leave it to me. This has been really great about the IPL that everyone is very clear about their individual roles. Rest of the things look after themselves.”

Sam Curran and Sikandar Raza to play a crucial role for PBKS in their two games

Punjab Kings are one among the seven teams that are in contention to qualify for the playoffs. They have two games remaining against Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. They need to win their last two games and then it’ll make their case very strong for the playoffs as it’ll take them to 16 points.

Both Sikandar Raza and Sam Curran are expected to play a vital role for the team in both games. The team will be reliant on them to step up with both bat and ball. It’s fair to say that if he clicks in both games, PBKS will have a strong chance.
