Punjab Kings' South African speedster Kagiso Rabada has hailed Virat Kohli as the most difficult batsman to bowl to at the highest level of Cricket.
Kagiso Rabada made this claim just a day before he faces Virat Kohli during Punjab Kings' home game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru later today. The mesmerizing HPCA stadium in Dharamshala will play host to the match and after welcoming MS Dhoni in the previous game, the stadium is gearing up to welcome another Indian cricket icon.
What did Kagiso Rabada say about Virat Kohli?
While speaking to Australia-based Willow Talk Podcast recently, Kagiso Rabada had high praise (as usual) for Indian batting stalwart Virat Kohli. Rabada has already come up against Kohli once before in IPL 2024 and before that, the duo had gone head-to-head with each other during a 2-match Test series in December-January.
The Indian team had traveled to South Africa for an all-format series and therein, Virat Kohli faced Kagiso Rabada in the red-ball affair. In the 1st Test match at Centurion, Rabada had scalped Kohli's wicket for a score of 38. In the 2nd innings, before the Proteas claimed victory by an innings and 32 runs, the speedster had caught him off Marco Jansen's delivery.
In the 2nd Test which India won by 7-wickets, Kagiso Rabada again got rid of Virat Kohli for 46 with Marco Jansen claiming the latter in the other innings. So the rivalry between Rabada and Kohli is huge and tonight the duo will be adding another chapter in that rivalry.
Ahead of the all-important clash between Punjab and Bengaluru, Kagiso Rabada has claimed that Virat Kohli's determination to dominate is amazing. Rabada feels that Kohli has got everything covered in his gameplay and highlighted the latter's hunger for runs and fitness which has taken his game to the other level.
"It's extremely difficult bowl to Virat Kohli. Because his willingness to come out to the Top is amazing. He has everything in his game. His hunger for runs is amazing, his fitness, his defense, he has power game as well." - Rabada said via Willow Talk Podcast.
Virat Kohli is indeed having another Indian Premier League season to remember this year. The former India captain has amassed 542 runs from 11 matches at a strike rate of 148 and he is currently averaging 67.75 He has 4 half-centuries to his name and also has a century to show for. Kohli is currently the leader in the Orange Cap race with Ruturaj Gaikwad behind him by just 1 run.
Bengaluru aiming to win only their 2nd game in Dharamshala
In the head-to-head of Punjab Vs Bengaluru, the North-Indian outfit have the upper hand with 17 wins to their name. The South Indians on the other hand have won 15 of the 32 matches between them since 2008. At Dharamshala, Punjab and Bengaluru have met each other only once and tonight's clash will be their second at the HPCA stadium.
Punjab had defeated RCB by 111 runs during their previous encounter in Dharamshala back in 2011.
