PCB issues official statement on Australia cricketers’ availability for PSL 2026

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has dismissed rising security concerns regarding overseas players traveling for the upcoming PSL 2026. Despite recent military airstrikes in Kabul that resulted in over 400 casualties, the board remains confident that the tournament will proceed with its international players.
Pakistan and Afghanistan remain locked in a state of open conflict following a rapid escalation of border hostilities. The 11th edition of the domestic franchise tournament is scheduled to begin on March 26. Notably, the tournament has expanded to an eight-team format and will overlap with the IPL.
Australia Issue Travel Warning for PSL 2026 Amid Security Concerns
The Australian government has cleared its players to participate in the tournament but issued strict travel advisories. Officials have warned players to completely avoid Peshawar due to severe security threats and its close proximity, around 40 to 50 kilometres, to the volatile Afghanistan border.
The city is currently under a ‘Do Not Travel’ advisory. Peshawar’s Imran Khan Stadium is scheduled to host two matches on Saturday, March 28. However, according to a Code Sports report, the feasibility of these fixtures remains under serious doubt amid the current situation.
Australian players and support staff have already received detailed security briefings regarding potential travel disruptions and conflict-related risks. The Pakistan Cricket Board has also put contingency measures in place, including emergency evacuation plans using chartered flights if the situation worsens.
PCB Dismiss Concerns Over Australian Players Ahead of PSL 2026
According to a report by PTI, the Pakistan Cricket Board addressed the growing speculation. They refuted reports suggesting that the Australian contingent felt uneasy about traveling to the country amid the ongoing border conflicts and broader Middle East instability.
"All travel arrangements and plans are in place and we will have all the Australian players who have signed for the PSL 11 start arriving from next week," the board source stated to PTI.
The organizers emphasized that they remain unfazed by the current situation. The board added that it has successfully managed similar logistical and security challenges in previous editions, ensuring that player safety remains the top priority.
Australian Players Ready to Lead and Perform in PSL 2026
Several high-profile Australian cricketers have signed contracts for the upcoming PSL season. Steve Smith, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Adam Zampa, Peter Siddle, Aaron Hardie, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Josh Philippe, Riley Meredith, and Ben McDermott will play for their respective franchises.
Three Australian players will take on leadership roles during the tournament. Marnus Labuschagne has joined the Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen as a direct signing and will lead the side, while David Warner will captain Karachi Kings and Ashton Turner will lead Multan Sultans as overseas captains this season.
The tournament will begin at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, with Lahore Qalandars facing the newly formed Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen in the opening match, just two days before the Indian Premier League starts.
