The Peshawar Zalmi franchise has voiced concerns about the schedule for the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Peshawar Zalmi expressed disappointment with the administration’s decision to allocate only four matches in Rawalpindi and one in Karachi.

The ninth edition of the PSL is set to commence on February 17 with a match between defending champions Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. The final is scheduled to take place at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on March 18.

The PSL will be played across four cities: Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. A total of 34 matches will be played across these venues. Karachi will host 11 matches, and Lahore and Rawalpindi will each host nine. Five matches of the event will be played in Multan.

Peshawar Zalmi Expresses Disappointment Over PSL 2024 Schedule

As reported by Cricket Pakistan, the Peshawar franchise expressed disagreement with the PSL 2024 schedule and venues. The report stated that the franchise wanted to host a few matches in Peshawar. However, Zalmi was not involved in the decision-making process.

Peshawar Zalmi was not consulted before the schedule was released. They expressed disappointment with the allocation of only four matches in Rawalpindi and one in Karachi. The report further revealed that, prior to the schedule release, Zalmi had requested three matches near Peshawar due to substantial support in Rawalpindi and Karachi.

Following the schedule release, the team requested reducing Lahore’s matches, increasing Rawalpindi’s to four, and adding three in Karachi. The administration conveyed reservations to the PCB headquarters, but unfortunately, no attention was given to the matter.

The report highlighted the need for the PCB to carefully address the concerns raised by all franchises. They advocate for an increased number of matches in Rawalpindi and Karachi. Despite Peshawar Zalmi’s commitment to participating in PSL 9, the protest against the current schedule will persist.
