Punjab Kings takes on Chennai Super Kings in back-to-back games next in IPL 2024. They play them first in Chennai on May 1 and next in Dharamsala on Sunday, May 5.
They are heading into this game after a record-breaking chase against KKR. They chased down 161 with more than one over to spare. Despite the win, PBKS find themselves eighth on the points table.
The win was not the correct reflection of how inconsistent they have been overall in the season. Their win against PBKS was mostly due to the nature of the wicket at Eden Gardens which was flat as a tank.
Playing back-to-back games against CSK will be their real Test. It will be interesting to see whether their batters can remain consistent against CSK where they will be playing in very different conditions.
The PBKS management is sweating over the return of Shikhar Dhawan their skipper. He has now missed four games on the trot for the franchise. If he does not return, The Kings might like to go with the same side that won against KKR.
