Rachin Ravindra claims Sir Richard Hadlee Medal; Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell also bag big honors at the NZ Cricket Awards

Young New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra stole the limelight during the New Zealand Cricket Awards ceremony in Christchurch. He became the youngest player to win the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal.

Rachin Ravindra won the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal because of the kind of performances that he put with bat and ball for New Zealand in all three formats of the game. The all-rounder was at his exceptional best for the team and was one of the main reasons behind their success.

Rachin Ravindra’s best came during the ICC World Cup 2023. The all-rounder brought up his best with the bat and scored 578 runs at the 2023 World Cup which was one of the main reasons why New Zealand reached the semi-final of the tournament before losing to India.

Rachin Ravindra however, didn’t stop there as he then continued with his golden touch with the bat for the team in the Test series against South Africa. He played an innings of 240 runs against the Proteas and helped his team win their first-ever Test series over the opposition.

Rachin Ravindra also played valiant knocks in the Test series against Australia as well. He was the shining light for the New Zealand team in 2023. He kept slamming runs for the team last year and played impactful innings that helped them register famous wins.

Apart from Rachin Ravindra, women cricketer Amelia Kerr won the top honors at the New Zealand Cricket Awards ceremony in Christchurch. She bagged the Debbie Hockley Medal for the second consecutive year. apart from that, she also won the ODI and T20I Player of the Year awards.

Amelia Kerr was exceptional for New Zealand in ODIs and T20Is. She ended 50-over Cricket as run-scorer with 541 runs at an average of 67. She was also the joint-leading T20 wicket-taker and second-highest T20I run scorer for her team in the games that they played in 2023.

Kane Williamson, who was exceptional in Test cricket, completed his 32 Test hundreds and was named the Test Player of the Year. Daryl Mitchell on the other hand for his heroics in ODIs won the Men’s ODI Player of the Year whereas Mitchell Santner won the T20I Player of the Year award.
