The IPL franchise, Rajasthan Royals, has started having second thoughts on the Sanju Samson trade with his former franchise, Delhi Capitals. They have been reported to have demanded uncapped players alongside Tristan Stubbs.

The IPL mini-auction will be scheduled to be held midway through December, between the 13th and 15th of December. The retention lists are to be announced by the 15th of November, and hence, trades and talks are at full swing between franchises.

Sanju Samson has been a constant target of several franchises, which included the Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, and later the Delhi Capitals as well. It was reported that the Capitals are likely to be the team that is the frontrunner to bag the deal.

Sanju Samson's trade deal faces a major roadblock

Last week, the TOI reports had suggested that Sanju Samson is likely to be part of a trade between the Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. The Capitals are to bring in their former player, and the Royals are set to part ways with their skipper.

Previously, such talks also involved the 5-time champions Chennai Super Kings. The CSK side was interested in having a wicket-keeper batsman as well as a top-order batter who has some experience to lead alongside the skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, the unfair demands of the Royals could not be met by CSK, and hence, the deal was sidelined.

A similar scenario has also arisen with the Delhi Capitals, when the Rajasthan Royals did not seem content with Tristan Stubbs as a trade deal but rather demanded another uncapped Indian player in exchange.

The Rajasthan Royals are in search of a quality uncapped player

As the Royals have been reported to urge for another uncapped Indian player from the Delhi Capitals. They have reportedly cited three major names from the Capitals squad.

Vipraj Nigam, the all-rounder spinner, has been the first name in the list, while the two other players have been Sameer Rizvi and Abhishek Porel, who have also been in demand from the Capitals' middle order.

The Royals have asked for any one of these three players; however, the Capitals have yet to confirm any such report or their decision to release any of the players.

Why is Vipraj Nigam crucial for the Rajasthan Royals?

Vipraj Nigam, the instrumental all-rounder for the Delhi Capitals, emerged as a good finisher towards the death overs. He was also their lead spinner alongside Kuldeep Yadav, despite the presence of skipper Axar Patel.

Nigam picked big wickets like Virat Kohli and rose to fame with some dominance. The Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, have lacked their expert spinners like Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin. Hasaranga did play as the lead spinner but could not produce good enough results.

Vipraj Nigam could instead be their new lead spinner and all-rounder down the order. He could help solve the Royals' problems during the death overs, as they could not win several crucial chases during the final overs.
