In a video shared by Cricbuzz on X (formerly known as Twitter), Simon Doull had several cricketers' names thrown at him, starting with Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant. Doull had no hesitation in picking Hardik as the best IPL captain in this year's tournament so far.

Axar Patel Picked as Best Captain of IPL 2025 So Far
The former fast bowler then gave up on Rahane when Axar Patel's name came up. He went on to pick Axar over captains Shubman Gill, Pat Cummins, and Sanju Samson. When asked to pick between Axar and Shreyas Iyer, Doull paused for a couple of seconds and then chose the Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper.
Axar is currently leading the Delhi Capitals in the ongoing season. The left-arm spinner guided the team to four consecutive wins before suffering a loss to the Mumbai Indians in their most recent match. They are currently in second place on the table with eight points and a net run rate (NRR) of +0.899.

Rajat Patidar Assumed RCB Captaincy Ahead of IPL 2025 Campaign
Rajat Patidar took charge as Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain ahead of IPL 2025. Under his leadership, the team has made a strong start to the season. With four victories in six games, RCB are currently third on the points table with 8 points and a Net Run Rate of +0.67.
They have struggled at home, losing both matches to the Gujarat Titans and the Delhi Capitals. However, they have been exceptional away from home. RCB have won four consecutive away matches, including wins over Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Rajasthan Royals.
The Rajat Patidar-led team will next take on Punjab Kings, led by Shreyas Iyer, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, April 18. They are likely to qualify for the playoffs, but a top-two finish will depend on maintaining this winning momentum.
