Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has said that the India U19 star all-rounder Rajvardhan Hangargekar should attract 5-10 bids at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction.
Rajvardhan Hangargekar is currently part of India’s U19 World Cup 2022 team and he has bagged 5 wickets in the tournament so far. Also, he played an amazing 39-run knock off just 17 balls against Ireland.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin said that Hangargekar will be in demand at the IPL 2022 mega auction. He asserted:
“This player will certainly be picked at the IPL auction. Which franchise I cannot predict, but he will surely be purchased. His name is Rajvardhan Hangargekar. He is a right-arm medium pacer, who can bowl the inswinger very well. Ishant Sharma is the only one who has the gift among present Indian right-arm pacers. Inswing can usually tuck in batters, which is why I feel he will be in demand.”
Ashwin added that the 19-year-old is also a strong and incredible lower middle-order hitter.
“He is also a strong lower middle-order hitter. The power he generates when he hits the ball is incredible. He should attract at least 5-10 bids. Make sure to watch him out.”
While talking about India U19 captain Yash Dhull, Ashwin said that he is a “highly talented batter”. He said:
“Yash Dhull is a highly talented batter. Last time SRH picked up U19 skipper Priyam Garg. Will they do the same this time? We’ll have to wait and watch. DC has also backed a former U19 captain in Shaw.”
Despite him being termed Baby AB, I am not sure if he will get picked – Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin also talked about the chances of South Africa’s Dewald Brevis aka ‘Baby AB’ getting picked by a franchise at the 2022 mega auction and said:
“Dewald Brevis is being promoted a lot as Baby AB. He is playing sensationally, and people have started asking whether he can be picked in the IPL. But each team has only eight overseas slots.”
“Will it be worth giving one of those slots to an U19 overseas player is the big question for the franchises. So, despite him being termed Baby AB, I am not sure if he will get picked.”
The 18-year-old Proteas batter has smashed 4 back-to-back 50+ scores in the World Cup including three 90+ scores. He scored 65 runs against India, 104 runs against Uganda, 96 runs against Ireland and 97 runs against England. Also, with his leg-spin bowling, he has bagged six wickets in the tournament.
