Ravichandran Ashwin Lavishes Praise On Mohammad Rizwan And Babar Azam
Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin praised Pakistani opening pair of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam in a candid question and answer session with fans on his YouTube channel.
Ashwin has started a new show called “40 shades of Ash” where he answers 40 different questions from fans on social media. During the same interaction, Ashwin spoke about his favorite cricketer from Pakistan.
“I’ve always been following Mohammad Rizwan and have been speaking about him for a while about the quality he brings and plays very crucial knocks but I think the standout batter & the ways he bats, the hundred in Australia, it has to be B<!---->a<!---->b<!---->a<!---->r<!----> <!---->A<!---->z<!---->a<!---->m,” Ashwin said.
“Shaheen Afridi is real talent” – Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin also spoke about the rising young fast bowler, Shaheen Afridi. The left-arm pacer ran through the Indian batting lineup in Pakistan’s first group game against India in the recently-concluded T20 World Cup. The memories are clearly fresh in Ashwin’s mind when he praised the Pakistani.
“After that real sticker that has been going around, Shaheen Shah Afridi is well, real talent. Pakistan has always had some talented cricketers and they have more now,” Ashwin added.
The 35-year-old Ashwin also said that going past Muttiah Muralitharan’s record of 800 Test wickets is a little far-fetched. Ashwin recently went past Harbhajan Singh’s tally of 417 wickets and is en route to break Kapil Dev’s record of 434 wickets.
“So if he has said so, I am really thankful, but the goal of 800 is so far from reach. I know all of you have this hope that I do reach that mark, but it is too far. Let’s try to take it one step at a time, one wicket at a time and that is how I am looking at things,” Ashwin mentioned.
