Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin indeed knows how to hit back with fitting responses. From time to time, Ravichandran Ashwin has backed up his attitude with match-winning efforts for India and his respective IPL franchises. On this occasion, the veteran off-spinner has reacted to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s controversial take on rising sexual violence, especially against children in Pakistan.
Former Pakistan cricket captain and now Prime Minister Imran Khan held a question and answer session with the public on Sunday. A fellow countryman asked Imran what measures the government was taking against the rising sexual violence in Pakistan, especially against children. The 68-year old responded by saying that societies need to protect themselves against “Fatashis”, which translates to vulgarity. Furthermore, he linked rapes to how women dressed.
The same did not go well with Ravichandran Ashwin and he responded by saying “Let’s do better parenting please. Today will determine our tomorrows”. In fact, Imran Khan’s former spouse Jemima Goldsmith also raised her voice against this opinion and remarked, “Say to the believing men that they restrain their eyes and guard their private parts. The onus is on men,”
Let’s do better parenting please??.
