Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has reached a significant landmark on day three of the first Test against England in Nottingham. Ravindra Jadeja came to bat fairly early on day three as Rishabh Pant departed after a quick cameo. However, the southpaw has weathered the storm and became the fifth Indian all-rounder to amass more than 2000 runs and take 200 scalps.

Ravindra Jadeja became the fifth all-rounder to reach 2000 runs and pick up 200 wickets, lined up behind Kapil Dev, Ravichandran Ashwin, Anil Kumble, and Harbhajan Singh. Amongst them, former Indian skipper Anil Kumble arguably heads the list as he is the greatest Indian all-rounder to take the lead. In 131 Tests, Dev accumulated 5248 runs at 31.05 and collected 434 wickets.

Overall, Ravindra Jadeja is the fifth-fastest all-rounder in Test cricket history to reach the milestone behind Sir Ian Botham, Kapil Dev, Imran Khan and Ravichandran Ashwin. The Saurashtra all-rounder has done it in 53 matches, while England great Ian Botham did it in only 42 games.

Meanwhile, Jadeja has done outstandingly well after coming to bat when India were at 145-5. They trailed by 38 runs at that stage; however, Jadeja’s unbroken 43-run partnership before lunch with KL Rahul has put India ahead by nine runs. The pair would hope to put the match beyond England’s reach.
