Daryl Mitchell, on Thursday (May 18), took a brilliant catch to dismiss Virat Kohli in the ongoing game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

In the form Virat Kohli is in right now, CSK needed something special to get rid of the former RCB captain and Daryl Mitchell did exactly that. The in-form batsman made a positive start with the bat and was well set. He was batting on 47 off 28 balls before Daryl Mitchell came up with the brilliant catch at long-on.

On the fourth ball of the tenth over, Mitchell Santner bowled one at the leg stump that spun away at the last moment. Virat Kohli could not read the line and length of the ball correctly and ended up playing against the turn. He also failed to keep his shot grounded as he miscued it towards long on.

Daryl Mitchell took a couple of steps backwards before taking the catch. However, the momentum was taking him over the boundary rope. The New Zealand star then showed remarkable presence of mind as he threw the ball in the air and stepped onto the ropes before regaining his balance and catching the ball.

Talking about the game, RCB were on 125 for 2 in the 14th over at the time of writing this report. After Kohli's departure, RCB lost the wicket of their captain Faf du Plessis as well. The former South Africa skipper was run out after scoring 54 runs off 39 balls with the help of three sixes and as many fours.

RCB need to win the game at any cost to make it to the playoffs. Just a win will not be enough as RCB will have to improve their net run-rate as well. They need to win the game by a big margin to have a better net run rate than CSK.
