The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) left-arm pacer Yash Dayal rattled the stumps of the Gujarat Titans (GT) all-rounder Rashid Khan in the 52nd match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) on Saturday, May 4, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
After opting to bowl first in the match, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowling unit did a fantastic job and reduced GT to 3/19 by dismissing Wriddhiman Saha, Shubman Gill, and Sai Sudharsan for low scores. Shahrukh Khan and David Miller next came together and they were involved in a 61-run partnership that helped GT gain some momentum.
After the duo got out, Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia joined forces and together they added 44 runs in 29 balls. The partnership between Rashid and Rahul was broken by Yash Dayal who cleaned up the Afghanistan star. Rashid Khan was back in the hut after scoring 18 runs off 14 balls, with 2 fours and 1 six.
On the third ball of the 18th over, Yash Dayal bowled a 136.1kph yorker and Rashid Khan shuffled across to play a shot towards the leg side. He missed the ball completely and saw his stumps getting rattled.
Gujarat Titans Made 2 Changes To Their Playing XI For The Match vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Gujarat Titans made two huge changes to their playing XI for the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they brought in Joshua Little and Manav Suthar to their side. The youngster Suthar replaced Sai Kishore in the match as the latter had a small niggle.
Speaking ahead of the match, Sai Kishore said that they just wanted to compete well in the ongoing season of IPL. Sai Kishore added that as a bowler he looks to bowl in all phases and was hopeful of GT bouncing back strong. He elaborated:
"The messaging was pretty clear - just to play well and compete well. When we play to our best, we give ourselves the best chance to win.
"As bowlers there are very few things you can control. If you can land the ball in the right area with the right of release, that’s all you can control. As a bowler, you want the ball in all phases of the game. Whenever there is pressure, you want to make an impact. Happy to take up the pressure wherever needed. There is very good skill levels in the group. More than skill, it’s the mental toughness that takes you through. Hope that we bounce back and play to our best potential."
