"Received over 500 missed calls, but..." - Vaibhav Suryavanshi makes stunning revelation in front of Rahul Dravid

Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi revealed he received over 500 missed calls after his record-breaking century against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025. He made this revelation during a chat with RR head coach Rahul Dravid after their six-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Delhi.
Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2025 season has concluded with the team finishing second from bottom on the points table. They missed out on the playoffs, but can find some positives. Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered stunning performances, which is positive in a challenging campaign for the inaugural IPL champions.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Bought by Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.1 Crores
Rajasthan Royals bought Vaibhav Suryavanshi for ₹1.1 crores in the 2025 IPL auction. The left-handed batter was benched in the initial matches but got his chance when captain Sanju Samson was sidelined with an injury.
Suryavanshi delivered a spectacular performance in only his third IPL match. He amassed a blazing 101 runs off 38 balls against the Gujarat Titans. The southpaw became the fastest Indian to reach an IPL century in just 35 balls.
He also helped the Rajasthan Royals chase down a tough target. The IPL buzzed with talk about the young prodigy who captured everyone’s attention with his extraordinary talent.
I Received Over 500 Missed Calls, But... - Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Following the CSK vs RR match, Suryavanshi shared with coach Rahul Dravid that he received more than 500 missed calls. He said that many people reached out to him following his performance, but he prefers to stay close to family and a few friends.
"I received over 500 missed calls, but I had kept my phone switched off. A lot of people were approaching after I scored the century. But I don't like that [having too many people]. I try to stay away. I had kept my phone off for 4 days; I told you that. I like to be around my people at home and a few friends. That's it," Suryavanshi said (via Hindustan Times).
Suryavanshi scored 57 runs off just 33 balls, leading Rajasthan Royals to victory against Chennai Super Kings. He has scored 252 runs across seven matches at an average of 36 and an outstanding strike rate of 206.55.
All These Bowlers Will Come Prepared - Rahul Dravid to Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Rahul Dravid lauded Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his debut season in the IPL. Dravid advised the 14-year-old to keep training hard and evolving his game, warning that bowlers would study him closely and return better prepared next season.
"It was a great season. Keep doing what you did, play well, train well. But keep this in mind that next year, all these bowlers will come prepared, more prepared against you. So we too have to prepare, train hard, and develop more skills. Well done," said Dravid (via aforementioned source).
Rajasthan Royals managed just four wins in 14 matches. Before the IPL, Suryavanshi had limited experience, with just five first-class, six List-A, and a single T20 appearance.
