Former Pakistan batting coach Younis Khan quitting his position recently and doing it abruptly sparked a host of questions. Younis Khan joined the side as the batting consultant in November and signed a two-year contract, meaning his stint was till November 2022. But it has come to light that the 43-year old had a heated exchange with fast bowler Hasan Ali.
On the 22nd of June, Pakistan Cricket Board and Younis Khan mutually agreed to part ways as dental treatment and his conflicts with the officials was a significant reason behind his resignation. It emerged that Khan had leaked team information and line-ups to his friends in media before matches. Nevertheless, a new angle has come out.
According to some sources, Younis Khan and Hasan Ali had a verbal war during the South African tour earlier this year after a T20 international in Centurion. Pakistan’s leading run-getter in Test cricket is said to have approached Ali over a matter outside his domain after the match; however, the right-arm pacer responded rudely. It left Khan unhappy and he remained quiet and reserved for the remaining part of the tour.
Younis Khan or PCB did not comment on the matter:
Nevertheless, Pakistan Cricket Board did not comment on the issue or explore more on the matter. On the other hand, Younis Khan was not available at that time to elaborate more on the same.
