India allrounder Axar Patel has revealed the reason for India's calm dressing room environment that enabled them to clinch the T20 World Cup 2024 title. Axar revealed that India's team environment is always positive regardless of the result.

Under the guidance of former coach Rahul Dravid, Team India were able to maintain an excellent dressing room atmosphere. Dravid managed things really well even if the team was going through lows after the defeats in the WTC final and ODI World Cup 2023 final. Axar stressed the importance of maintaining a good dressing room atmosphere in the team's success.

Axar Patel speaks on India's dressing room environment

During an interview with Times Now, Axar Patel stated that the team's dressing room atmosphere hasn't started suddenly and has been under process for the last two years. He also added that regardless of the result, the dressing room atmosphere has been always positive.

"It's not like the atmosphere was created just for the World Cup, it's been in the works for the last two years. When we lost the 50 overs World Cup, the atmosphere was the same. The result doesn't matter, the process does and this has been the philosophy of the Indian team. We were trying to control what we could and rest follows," Axar said.

Axar also spoke about the medal ceremony organized by the former fielding coach T Dilip. The left-arm spinner asserted that the whole team celebrated regardless of one person receiving the medal.

"The team culture has been built over a period of time everyone enjoys each other's success - whether it's the fielding ceremony - where everyone enjoys it even though only one player is winning it," Axar said.

"Any moment on the ground is celebrated, not from far but close quarters. The team was working towards one goal and there was so negativity since we started our World Cup campaign and that's what reflected on the ground and in our performance," he added.

'Best fielder' award well appreciated by fans

The ceremony for the 'Best Fielder of the Match' was organized at the end of every game by the former fielding coach T Dilip. It became popular with T Dilip's unique ways of awarding the fielders during the ODI World Cup 2023. The BCCI has uploaded multiple videos for the best fielder on their social media handle.

With the end of Rahul Dravid's tenure as India's head coach, T Dilip's tenure also came to an end. Under the coaching of Rahul Dravid, India reached new heights as they made it to three ICC tournament finals within a year. The Men in Blue lost the WTC finals and ODI World Cup final to Australia but claimed the T20 World Cup 2024 title by defeating South Africa in the final.

Axar Patel himself had a great tournament with both bat and ball in the T20 World Cup 2024. He picked up 9 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 19.22 and an economy rate of 7.86. With the bat, Axar scored 92 runs at a strike rate of 139.39, which includes a magnificent 47 off 31 balls in the final.
