Ponting was asked by host Sanjana Ganesan, ‘What do we think of Usman Tariq's bowling action? There is the statue-like pose, there's the pause. How do you think India should play him?’

Usman Tariq is creating tensions ahead of India vs Pakistan

He replied, “I was disappointed with Cameron Green’s reaction when he got out against him, almost mimicking what he was doing and talking about his bowling action. You’ve seen it — you know what he does. There shouldn’t be any surprises.”

“You know he’s going to walk up, you know he’s going to pause, and you know he’s going to have that very low-arm action. It’s no good complaining about it. It’s there — you’ve got to find a way to combat it and play it well.”

“From what I’ve seen, the guys who have struggled most against him are the ones who have been getting hit across the line a little bit. He’s not a big turner of the ball.”

Ricky Ponting concluded, saying, “If I were coaching these guys, I’d say stand on off stump, target the sightscreen, hit him with a straight bat, and hit him as hard as you can down the ground. If you can do that against him early on, all the pressure goes back onto him. So that’s certainly what I’d be saying.”

India takes special preparation for Usman Tariq

It has been seen that the Indian batters are taking special preparation to deal with Usman Tariq. Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav took matters into his own hands this time with the ball during the final net session on Saturday ahead of the match. He was seen to resemble Usman Tariq while bowing to Abhishek Sharma and Rinku Singh.

India and Pakistan both sit on four points each, as the Men in Blue are at the top in terms of their run rate. The winner of this match will be the second team to secure their spot in the Super 8s after South Africa made it on Saturday.
