Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) batter Rinku Singh lauded left arm pacer Yash Dayal following Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Rinku Singh shared a heartwarming post on Instagram after Yash Dayal defended 17 runs in the last over.

The Royal Challengers secured a 27-run victory at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, May 18. The Faf du Plessis-led team became the fourth team after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to secure a berth in the playoffs.

Bengaluru posted a total of 218 runs after being asked to bat first. Virat Kohli continued his batting form and scored 47 runs off 29 balls, including three fours and four sixes. Faf du Plessis (54 off 39), Rajat Patidar (41 off 23), and Cameron Green (38 off 17) made valuable contributions.

The visitors got off to a disappointing start as Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for a duck on the first ball. CSK collapsed to 129/6 wickets in 15 overs. Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni threatened to deny a playoff berth with their quickfire partnership, leaving 17 runs to chase in the final over.

Faf du Plessis handed the ball to Yash Dayal to bowl the final over under pressure. MS Dhoni smashed him for a 110-meter six on the first ball. However, Dayal relied on his slower deliveries and dismissed Dhoni on the next ball. The left-arm pacer conceded just one run off the last four balls.

God's Plan, Baby - Rinku Singh

Following the match, Rinku Singh posted a heartfelt message on Instagram for Yash Dayal. The KKR batter shared an image of Dayal and captioned it, "God's plan, baby."

A year ago, Yash Dayal faced heartbreak when Rinku Singh hit him for five consecutive sixes. Dayal fell ill and was dropped from the Gujarat Titans' playing XI for almost a month. Dayal found redemption with Royal Challengers Bengaluru after being released by the franchise last year.

The 26-year-old picked up two wickets in four overs for 42 runs in the last match. The young pacer has taken 15 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 28.13 and an economy rate of 8.95, with the best bowling figures of 3/20. He is the leading wicket-taker for the RCB in the ongoing season.

Dedicate This Man Of The Match To Yash Dayal - Faf du Plessis

Speaking in the post-match presentation, Faf du Plessis was impressed by Yash Dayal's remarkable performance in the final over. Du Plessis dedicated his Player of the Match award to him for his "unbelievable" show.

"We were defending 175, it got a bit close, at one stage, with MS there, I thought, oh dear, he has done it so many times. The way we bowled with the wet ball was unbelievable, we tried to change it. I dedicate this Man of the Match to Yash Dayal. The way he bowled was unbelievable. For a man who's fairly new, he deserves it," Du Plessis said.
