Heartbreaking news arrived on the morning of Friday, February 27, from the family of the star India National Cricket Team middle-order batsman Rinku Singh.

As per the media reports, Rinku Singh has lost his father, who was battling with liver cancer in Noida for quite some time.

This news comes at a time when Rinku Singh and Team India are involved in their campaign in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, which is being co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

Rinku Singh leaves the Indian camp to stay with family

Khanchand Singh, father of Rinku Singh, was undergoing treatment at the Yatharth Hospital, and recently his condition worsened.

This also led to Rinku Singh leaving the Indian camp ahead of the match against Zimbabwe to provide support to his family during a difficult time. However, he returned to the side for the match against Zimbabwe, but didn't feature in the Playing XI.

As per the latest report in Hindustan Times, Rinku Singh has once again been given a break by the team management, and he has been asked to stay at home with his family.

The left-handed batter, who hasn't had the best of the World Cups, is likely to rejoin the squad before India line up against the Men In Maroon in their final Super Eight match of the ongoing marquee tournament.

Pained to learn about the demise of Shri Khanchand Singh Ji - Harbhajan Singh

Taking to his official X handle, the legendary India National Cricket Team off-spinner Harbhajan Singh offered his sincere condolences to Rinku and his family.

“Pained to learn about the demise of Shri Khanchand Singh Ji, father of Rinku Singh. This must be an especially difficult time for Rinku and his family, even as he remains committed to his responsibilities during the T20 World Cup,” Harbhajan wrote on X.

“My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with him and his loved ones. May Waheguru grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength and courage to the bereaved family,” he added.

Extremely heartbreaking - Rajeev Shukla

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla and the BCCI Differently Abled Cricket Committee member Ravi Kant Chauhan also took to X to provide support to Rinku amidst a difficult time in his life.

"The news of the demise of cricketer Rinku Singh's father, Shri Khanchand Singh Ji, is extremely heartbreaking. In this difficult time, my deepest condolences are with Rinku Singh and his entire family. May God grant a place to the departed soul at his holy feet and bestow strength upon the grieving family to bear this immense sorrow. Om Shanti," the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president said on X.

"The news of Shri Khachand Singh Ji's passing is extremely heartbreaking. During this difficult time, my deepest condolences are with Rinku Singh and his family. Even during the T20 World Cup, remaining dedicated to his duties reflects his courage and resilience. May God grant peace to the departed soul and give strength to the grieving family to bear this sorrow,'' Ravi Kant Chauhan stated.
