Rohit Sharma, on Thursday (February 15), roared back to form and led India’s charge with the bat in the ongoing third Test against England in Rajkot.

The India skipper led from the very front and bailed the team out of trouble with a stunning century. After he won the toss and opted to bat first on a good pitch, India were off to a terrible start as they lost 3 wickets for just 33 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (10), Shubman Gill (0) and Rajat Patidar (5) failed to get going with the bat.

Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja then joined hands to steady the ship and it has been a one-way traffic in Rajkot since then. At the time of writing this report, the partnership between them was worth more than 200 runs. The veteran opener reached his century in 157 deliveries.

Rohit Sharma creates history:

He has now become the oldest Indian captain to score a century in international cricket. The record was previously held by Vijay Hazare who scored a century at the age of 36 years 278 days. Hazare scored his century against England as well.

Rohit Sharma scored his latest Test century at the age of 36 years and 291 days. Last month, he had also became the oldest Indian captain to score a T20I century, achieving the feat against Afghanistan.

Talking about the game, India were on 237 for 4 at the time of writing this report. Mark Wood broke the big partnership between Rohit Sharm and Ravindra Jadeja by dismissing the India captain. Rohit departed after scoring 131 off 196 deliveries with the help of 14 fours and 3 sixes. The onus will be now on a well-set Jadeja to steer India’s innings and propel the team to a big total.
