The national women’s cricket team was criticised by former Indian cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin after losing the Commonwealth Games gold medal game to Australia.
India lost the Sunday final against Australia, the current global T20 champions, by a score of nine runs. The team lead by Harmanpreet Kaur was chasing 162 runs and lost five wickets for only 31 runs.
Gave Away A Winning Game On A Platter: Mohammed Azharuddin

“Rubbish batting by the Indian team. No common sense. Gave away a winning game on a platter,” Azharuddin tweeted.
India had the match well in hand after losing the openers cheaply and consecutively, as Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues pounded the Australian bowlers. Jemimah and Harmanpreet combined for a third-wicket partnership of 96 runs. Australia, though, stopped the bleeding when Megan Schutt castled Jemimah for 33.
Ash Gardner tightened the screws after making the crucial breakthrough by dismissing Harmanpreet Kaur (65 off 43) and Pooja Vastrakar (1) in quick succession. When India needed 11 runs off the final over to win the game, they were eight runs behind. Jess Jonassen got two wickets to give Australia their triple.
