S Sreesanth is in no mood to bury the hatchet after his recent on-field altercation with his former teammate Gautam Gambhir. The former India teammates were involved in an ugly altercation on the field during a Legends League Cricket clash earlier this week.
The incident took place when Gautam Gambhir’s India Capitals locked horns against Gujarat Giants on Wednesday (December 6) in Surat. It all began when the fast bowler decided to give the opening batsman a long stare after being hit for a six and a four. Gautam Gambhir did not like S Sreesanth’s attitude and although he did not say anything, he made his feelings clear through a gesture with his hand.
Later in the game, things turned ugly and the umpires had to intervene to bring the situation under control. After the game ended, S Sreesanth posted a video in which he alleged that Gautam Gambhir had made derogatory remarks towards him and also accused him of being disrespectful to others. On Thursday (December 7), he went on to reveal that Gambhir kept calling him a fixer during the game.
S Sreesanth celebrates Gautam Gambhir’s dismissal:
Gautam Gambhir, on the other hand, has yet to say anything about the incident and has just posted a cryptic post so far. S Sreesanth, however, is in no mood to let the matter fade away. He commented on Gambhir’s Instagram post, writing:
“You have exceeded the boundaries of a sportsman and a brother, and above all, you represent the people. Yet, you continue to engage in conflicts with every cricketer. What is the matter with you? All I did was smile and observe, and you labeled me a fixer? Seriously? Are you above the Supreme Court?”
And after Gambhir failed to score big in the second qualifier, the fast bowler decided to celebrate it. The left-handed batsman was run out for 10 off 5 balls as the Capitals lost to Manipal Tigers by 6 wickets. The Capitals skipper was undone by a throw from Amitoze Singh when he tried to steal a quick single. Soon after the dismissal, S Sreesanth posted a screenshot of Gambhir’s run-out on his Instagram story and congratulated the fielder.
