SA20 2024: Watch - Faf du Plessis Grabs Outrageous Catch To Stun Everyone & Dismiss Dewald Brevis 

Johannesburg Super Kings (JSK) batter Faf du Plessis turned into a bird during the ongoing SA20 2024 game against Mumbai Indians Cape Town. The match between the two teams is taking place at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. 

Mumbai Indians Cape Town were asked to bat first and they have put in a magnificent performance with the bat. Rassie van der Dussen (103) and Ryan Rickleton (98) took bowlers to the cleaners and smashed them all over the park. They added 200 runs for the opening partnership. 

After the partnership was broken, Dewald Brevis walked out to bat and tried to get some runs early. However, his stay at the crease was cut short by the brilliance of Faf du Plessis in the field. The former South African skipper took a blinder. 

Lizaad Williams bowled a length ball around the off stump to which Dewald Brevis tried to slog. He ended up slicing the ball with the outside half of his bat. The ball went over the mid-off and it was almost certain that it would fall in no man’s land. 

But Faf du Plessis ran back quickly and put in a full stretch dive. He grabbed the ball with his one hand and made many go berserk. It’s fair to say that only he could’ve grabbed such a screamer.

Dewald Brevis could manage only 5 runs. But overall Mumbai Indians Cape Town had a magnificent outing with the bat. Most of the damage was done by openers as they played a dominating brand of cricket. It was a heartbreak for Ryan Rickleton as he fell just 2 runs short of his ton. 

After the openers got out, Liam Livingstone (12) and Kieron Pollard (9*) hit some lusty blows in the end as Mumbai Indians Cape Town posted gigantic a total of 243 runs on the board. For Johannesburg Super Kings, Nandre Burger posted two wickets whereas Lizaad Williams, Romario Shepherd, and Imran Tahir picked one scalp each. 

SA20 2024: Faf du Plessis involved in a mix-up as Reeza Hendricks gets run out 

Johannesburg Super Kings didn’t have a great start to chase as they lost Reeza Hendricks early on. The batter was involved in a mix-up with Faf du Plessis and had to take the unfortunate long walk back to the pavilion. 

Beuran Hendricks bowled an inswinger to Faf du Plessis who flicked the ball in front of the square post mid-wicket. Liam Livingstone got around from deep square leg, stopped the boundary, and sent the throw to the bowler’s end. 

Faf du Plessis wanted a third and was at the non-striker’s end but Reeza Hendricks couldn’t make it. He sacrificed himself to save Du Plessis. The batter scored a two-ball duck and was extremely unlucky. After his wicket, Ronan Hermann also perished. 

The onus would now be on Faf du Plessis to take his team home. A lot would be reliant on him. It remains to be seen how he goes about this chase. So far, he has looked in good touch and would be looking to play a big knock.
