Saim Ayub was dismissed for a run-out by miles in the Pakistan Greens vs Pakistan Whites match of the National Champions Cup. For the opening match of the 50-over format tournament, these two teams are currently against each other in Multan with Whites batting in the first innings.

Ayub came to bat with huge responsibility on his shoulders as he is the captain of the Whites in this edition of the tournament. At the moment when the opening pair of the Pakistan Whites was about to take off, Ayub lost his wicket.

Saim Ayub was dismissed for lack of communication and poor judgment

The run-out of Ayub is the perfect example of losing a wicket because of poor communication. On the fifth delivery of the fifth over of the innings, Ayub nicely sliced the ball towards the cover region off the pacer Naseem Shah. The batter placed the ball nicely between the fielders, but there was not enough power behind the ball to guide it to the boundary rope.

Shahzaib Khan and Saim Ayub assumed that the ball would race to the boundary line, but they had to increase their pace running between the wickets as soon as they spotted the fielders were approaching the ball quickly.

Pakistan Green saved the boundary and then dismissed Saim Ayub

By the time two Greens fielders prevented the ball from touching the rope, the batters of Whites completed a couple of runs without any trouble. Ayub quickly turned his head after completing the second and started running for the third.

While Ayub had already left his crease for the third run, Shahzaib Khan, who was standing at the non-striker’s end, was asking the skipper not to run for the third. Saim Ayub might not have spotted his batting partner’s raised hand, and continued his momentum on the track.

Fielder Farhan Yousaf threw the ball precisely to the stumps, and the keeper pouched it without making any mistake and dismantled the bails. Ayub was nowhere near the striker’s end when the keeper launched the bails. Ayub was dismissed for 14 runs off 16 balls with a couple of 4s; Pakistan Whites lost their first wicket for only 27 runs on the scoreboard.

The umpire went for a review before making the final call

The leg side umpire asked Saim Ayub to stay on the pitch for a while as they went to check where the fielding was clean. The fielder pushed the ball from near the ropes in a diving effort.

As the back of the fielder touched the rope, the umpire decided to double-check the action with the help of the TV umpire. The fielder pushed the ball cleanly before touching the rope. Therefore, Ayub had to walk off immediately after the review.

Faisal Afridi was the TV umpire, who did not take too long to check the movements of the fielders. As it is the first ever match of the tournament, both of the teams will try to leave the ground with a statement-making win.
