Shivam Dube credits IPL for India's international cricket dominance

India allrounder Shivam Dube has claimed that the Indian Premier League (IPL) has played a huge part in India's success on the international stage. According to him, IPL has been remarkable for the growth of cricket in India.
Shivam Dube was a part of India's squad that won the T20 World Cup 2024 recently. Although Dube did not make a significant contribution in the tournament, he scored a quickfire 27 off just 16 balls in the final against South Africa. He came in to bat when India were 103-4 and had lost an in-form Axar Patel.
The Men in Blue were in danger of losing out on all the momentum. But Dube joined Virat Kohli and kept the scoreboard ticking. His knock included 3 fours and 1 six and proved to be vital in the end as India registered a thrilling win by 7 runs.

During an exclusive interview with IANS, Shivam Dube spoke about the importance of IPL in his growth and how it has helped to improve the growth of cricket in India.
"The IPL is remarkable, both for players and for the growth of cricket in India. It provides a fantastic platform for young talent to showcase their skills alongside some of the best players in the world. Personally, playing in the IPL has been a significant learning experience, helping me improve my game and gain confidence," Dube said in the interview.
The left-handed batter also spoke about the growth of cricket in India due to IPL. He feels that the lucrative tournament has brought in new fans and has created opportunities for the players. He attributed the league to India's success at the international level.
"Since the inception of the IPL, the growth of cricket in India has been phenomenal. It has brought in new fans, increased the popularity of the sport, and created numerous opportunities for players at all levels. The exposure and competitive environment of the IPL have elevated the standards of Indian cricket, contributing to the success we see on the international stage today," Dube added.
Shivam Dube had an excellent IPL 2024
Shivam Dube had a hard time in the T20 World Cup 2024, held in the West Indies and the USA. He scored 133 runs in eight matches at an average of 22.16 and a strike rate of 114.65. However, his knocks against the USA, Bangladesh, Australia, and South Africa were crucial in India's victories.
Shivam Dube has an excellent record in the IPL. It were his IPL performances that helped in his selection in India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad. In IPL 2024, Dube scored 396 runs at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 162.29.
Even in the last season, Dube played brilliantly as he scored 418 runs at an average of 38 and a strike rate of 158.33. He is a key player for Chennai Super Kings in the middle order and is known to be an excellent player of spin.
