SL vs PAK Head to Head Records In Tests– SL vs PAK 2023, 1st Test. Sri Lanka and Pakistan go head o head in the first Test in Galle from July 16-20. The Test match kickstarts the WTC 2023-25 cycle for both teams. The second Test of the two-match Test series will be played in Colombo from July 24-28.

Sri Lanka finished fifth in the last WTC cycle while Pakistan placed seventh. The Lankans had a shot at playing the WTC final had they won the Test series against New Zealand which they unfortunately lost. That allowed India to qualify for the final alongside Australia.

India are topping the current WTC cycle points table after their innings victory over West Indies in the first Test in Dominica. Australia are placed second, England third and West Indies fourth. The rest of the teams are yet to start their next WTC cycle.

Sri Lanka will just play two more Test matches this year. They have already played five. Lankan skipper Dimuth Karunaratne feels that Test cricket is gradually dying and only the BIG 3 (India, Australia, England) playing most of the Test matches is not helping the cause.

The touring Pakistan side has a challenge of its own. They are also a side in transition with not many regular players playing Test cricket. Babar Azam (47) and Sarfaraz Ahmed (51) are the two most experienced players in the side. Not many of the rest of the players have even played over 25 Test matches.

Sri Lanka and Pakistan have a rich history in Test cricket. Both teams have played 57 Test matches between themselves with Pakistan winning 21 matches while Sri Lanka 17. However, beating the Lankans in their own backyard will be tough for the tourists.
