Stuart Law Appointed As Interim Head Coach Of Afghanistan Cricket Team

Former Australian cricketer Stuart Law has been appointed as the interim head coach of the Afghanistan cricket team. He replaces Lance Klusener at the helm ahead of Afghanistan’s upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh. The two sides will play a three-match ODI series followed by a two-match T20I series.
The ODIs will be played between February 23-28. The T20Is are scheduled for March 3 and March 5. Law was involved in coaching stints with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh previously. He led Bangladesh to their first Asia Cup final in 2012. To add to that, he also worked with the Bangladesh U-19 briefly as well.
Stuart Law To Take Over From Lance Klusener
Stuart Law has plenty of coaching experience in Australian domestic cricket as well. He has coached the Queensland Bulls and also has coached Brisbane Heat in the BBL.
Besides that, Law has spent time working with the West Indies and Australian national cricket teams as a batting consultant. Most recently, Law was recently associated with Middlesex between 2019 to 2021 before being sacked at the end of last season.
Afghanistan cricket team has improved by leaps and bounds in international cricket. They have attained direct qualifications for the T20 World Cup 2021 and 2022. They have achieved better ICC rankings as well across the white-ball formats.
Afghanistan are currently ranked tenth in the ICC ODI rankings while eighth in the ICC T20I rankings.
Players like Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman playing across various T20 leagues has given the national team recognition on the map of world cricket.
The board meanwhile, is on the lookout for a full-time replacement for Klusener who stepped down from his position following the 2021 T20 World Cup. Afghanistan made a group stage exit in the last edition of the global event.
