India’s mystery bowler Varun Chakravarthy couldn’t make much difference in the Indian bowling attack against Pakistan, and Salman Butt has revealed the reason behind it. Pakistan ripped apart India in their first game in ICC T20 World Cup 2021, and it was pure dominance from Babar Azam’s led side in both batting and bowling departments.

India lost early wickets of in-form batters KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, and it proved costly as India wasn’t able to get the innings going. They ended up scoring just 151 in the first innings, and with the depth of the Pakistan batting side, it was the icing on the cake in the run chase. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan stayed unbeaten in the crease to win the game for Pakistan.

“He Was No Surprise To Us” – Salman Butt On Varun Chakravarthy

Salman Butt mentioned that Varun CV’s mystery spin looked toothless against Pakistan as they were all ready for it from the domestic stages. He reckoned that the Pakistan cricketers have all come up playing a lot of tape ball cricket, and hence, the mystery spin isn’t going to be that effective against them.

“Varun Chakravarthy may be a mystery bowler but he was no surprise to us. Kids in Pakistan play a lot of tape ball cricket. Every kid in Pakistan plays this kind of bowling in street cricket, where bowlers do the finger tricks with the ball and try different variations,” Salman Butt told on his Youtube Channel.

Salman Butt Explains The Example Of Ajantha Mendis

Salman Butt reckoned that when most of the teams feared Ajantha Mendis’s mystery spin, it was Pakistan who played him well. He added that mystery spinners are never going to be a threat to the Pakistan side.

“At the start of his career, Sri Lanka’s Ajantha Mendis also troubled a lot of teams with his mystery element. But his record against Pakistan isn’t great. After a while, Sri Lanka stopped playing him against India. We have never found any mystery in mystery bowling because we have grown up playing such kind of bowlers,” He added.

This is the first time Pakistan has beaten India in a world cup fixture, and it is certainly a big boost to their confidence.
