Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and Hardik Pandya are some of the names that are all set to fly to New York on May 25th for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Team India will be kicking off their campaign on June 5th against Ireland at the Nassau County Stadium in New York. Rohit Sharma's men will be donning a brand new kit in the World Cup and there are high hopes as always from the Men in Blue in yet another ICC event.

Less than 6 months ago, the Indian team lost the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on home soil and 6 months later, the Indians have got another chance. Rohit Sharma's men will aim to become the first Indian side since MS Dhoni's XI that won the inaugural T20 World Cup 2007 in South Africa when the current captain was a 20-year-old himself.

Dates shifted from May 21st to May 25th for the first Indian batch to leave for New York

The initial date for the departure of the first Indian batch to New York was set at May 21st with the remaining contingent set to fly after May 25th. However, due to undisclosed circumstances, the BCCI has shifted the departure date to May 25th, a day before the IPL 2024 final in Chennai

All the Indian players who are certain to not feature in the IPL play-offs will be leaving the country 10 days before their opening game against Ireland. Captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Hardik Pandya will be joined by their MI teammates Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah along with wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant, all-rounder Axar Patel and left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh.

It has been disclosed by a BCCI source that the board wants the players to spend more time with their families because India will play only 1 warm-up game. Rohit Sharma and co. will take on continent rivals Bangladesh on June 1.

"The likes of skipper Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel are some of the players along with support staff who are expected to leave on May 25. Earlier, departure date for first batch was May 21 but since India is playing only one warm-up game , the players will get to spend some extra days at home," the official BCCI source confirmed, as quoted by PTI.
