Australia’s newly appointed Test captain Pat Cummins has revealed that he was asked to disclose any secret he might have had before to the selection committee before being appointed as the skipper in the purest format of the game.
Star pacer Pat Cummins is the 47th Aussie to get the privilege to lead the team in Test cricket. He was given the top job after Tim Paine decided to step down from his role following the sexting scandal.

Cummins is also the first pacer to lead Australia in Test cricket in the last 65 years. Other than Cummins, Ray Lindwall’s is the pacer who has led Australia’s Test team in just one game in 1956.
Also, former Australian captain, Steve Smith has made a comeback in a leadership role after getting banned in 2018 for the ball-tampering scandal, and he has been appointed as the new Test vice-captain of the team.
It Was A Really Good Open Discussion, We Talked About A Lot Of Different Things – Pat Cummins
In an interview with ABC sports Cummins was asked if the Cricket Australia selection panel had asked him “anything like a confession” before handing him the captain’s job, to which he replied:
“Yeah, there were a couple of questions. I won’t go into detail, It was a really good open discussion. We talked about a lot of different things. So we both left it feeling really comfortable.”
Meanwhile, the 5 member panel that appointed Cummins as permanent skipper of the Test team consisted of George Bailey, Tony Dodemaide, Mel Jones, CEO Nick Hockley and chair Richard Freudenstein.
Pat Cummins, alongside Steve Smith, will be leading the team in the marquee Ashes 2021-22 series, which will begin from December 8 at the iconic Gabba, Brisbane.
