England limited-overs Eoin Morgan on Thursday said that there will be more rotation in the playing XI in the upcoming T20Is against Pakistan. The first of the three T20Is will be played at Nottingham from July 16 onwards, the next match will be played at Leeds on July 18 and the last T20I will be played on July 20 in Manchester.

The Three Lions defeated Pakistan 3-0 in the three-match ODI series, even though the management had to pick a second-string side as three members of the first-choice squad tested positive for COVID-19. Ben Stokes led a squad that contained 9 uncapped players when it was announced but crushed Babar Azam’s team in all three matches.

The Priority Throughout The Series Will Be To Give Guys Opportunities And There Will Be 100% More Rotation: Eoin Morgan

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have named a full-strength side for the T20I series against Pakistan under the captaincy of Eoin Morgan who returns from isolation. Talking about the upcoming series, he confirmed that there will be more rotation in playing XI as the priority will be to give opportunities to everyone.

“Not knowing what is ahead of ourselves, we need to look more into a little bit more into strength in depth. You will see us giving opportunities and going through various little options in the next three games for possible injury replacements for certain players within the group,” ESPNCricinfo quoted Morgan as saying.

“100 percent [there will be more rotation]. The priority throughout the series will be to give guys opportunities and treating it as though it is our last chance to look at guys in various positions. I still think the roles will be the same, but there will be rotation throughout the squad,” he added.

James Vince And Saqib Mahmood Have Done Themselves The World Of Good: Eoin Morgan

There were also questions on whether Saqib Mahmood and James Vince will get a chance to play against Pakistan in T20Is, after impressive outings against the Men in Green in the ODI series.  Vince scored his maiden ODI century in the 3rd match, guiding England to a comfortable win while chasing 332 runs. Mahmood, on the other hand,  picked 9 wickets in 3 matches including the best of 4/42 in the first ODI in Cardiff which routed Pakistan for 141 runs.

“They have done themselves the world of good, to be honest. The one thing you look at when guys come in and out is a marked improvement from the time they [first] get the opportunity to the time the next opportunity arrives. The two guys mentioned and [James Vince] were outstanding,” Morgan said.

Furthermore, Morgan confirmed that all-rounder Ben Stokes’ finger injury has not yet healed 100%.
