Travis Head Reacts On Tim Paine's Resignation As Test Skipper, Says 'Guess We Will Know More About The Matter In Next 24-48 Hours'

After Tim Paine stepped down as Australia’s Test skipper owing to involvement in a 2017 sexting incident with a female co-worker, his teammate Travis Head responded on the matter. However, Travis Head said that he does not know much details on the matter currently as he has not spoken to Tim Paine or other teammates.

Tim Paine stepped down as Test skipper on Friday and announced his decision during a press conference. The wicketkeeper-batsman is accused of engaging in an appropriate conversation with a female colleague back in 2017.

According to reports, Paine exchanged some sexually explicit messages and photos with the co-worker. The matter was under investigation and has come out in public four years later.

Over The Next 24-48 Hours, We’ll Know More About It: Travis Head

While speaking to Australia’s leading news website news.com.au, Travis Head mentioned that the matter will be more clear to the team in the next 24-48 hours. He also said that the team will move on with the issue soon and focus on the upcoming The Ashes 2021-22 series.

“It’s a tough one at the moment to go into any of that because I don’t know the ins and outs, I haven’t spoken to Tim or the boys, I guess over the next 24-48 hours we’ll know more about it.

“I think the group’s in a great space, a lot like the World Cup-winning T20 group, this group’s played a lot of series together, we’re in a great space, everyone gets along really well, so what will be over the next 24-to-48 hours will be and we’ll move on,” Travis Head said.

The left-handed batsman also said that the Australian team shares a close bond with each other, and the team will back every teammate.

“It’s hard to comment on what’s going on at the moment, but as a whole, with the culture and where the team’s at, what you see with the T20 squad I think is very similar to the Test squad, so I think Australian cricket as a whole with the guys we’ve got in, we’ve got good people and we’re fully behind everyone,” Head further said.

The Ashes 2021-22 series is just a few weeks away. Travis Head is part of the 15-member Australia squad for the first two Tests. However, with Tim Paine’s resignation, the selectors need to find a good captain to lead the team in Test. Pat Cummins is seen as a frontrunner to be appointed as the new Aussie Test skipper.
