Updated ICC World Test Championship Points Table after IND vs ENG 5th Test, WTC Table and Rankings

Team India defeated the England team in the fifth and final Test at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. The Rohit Sharma-led India secured an innings and 64-run victory in the final match of the five-match series on Saturday, March 9.
The Indian bowlers bundled out the opposition team for 195 runs on the third day of the match. Ravichandran Ashwin ran through England’s top order in the third innings. The veteran off-spinner picked up five wickets in his milestone 100th Test match for India.
Joe Root was the lone warrior in England’s batting lineup, scoring 84 runs off 128 balls with the help of 12 boundaries. Jasprit Bumrah, who led the team on Day 3, took two wickets. Kuldeep Yadav also claimed two wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja contributed one wicket.

The Rohit Sharma-led side secured their sixth victory in 9 matches in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle. The Indian team has retained their spot with a point percentage of 68.51, following the victory against England in Dharamsala.
Currently, England occupies the eighth spot following their sixth defeat in the cycle. The Ben Stokes-led side’s points percentage has dropped to 17.5 following the significant loss. It’s worth mentioning that 19 points were deducted due to slow overrate sanctions.
New Zealand stands at the second place in the ongoing WTC cycle. The Tim Southee-led side has won three matches out of five and holds a point percentage of 60. New Zealand lost the first Test of the two-match series against Australia, which impacted their position.
Meanwhile, the defending champions, Australia, are in third place with a points percentage of 59.09. They are followed by Bangladesh, Pakistan, West Indies, and South Africa in the next positions. Sri Lanka is currently in last place and has yet to score any points.

India Bundled Out For 477 Runs In First Innings
Earlier, the England team managed to score just 218 runs after opting to bat in the final Test match. England openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett added 64 runs before Kuldeep Yadav broke the stand. However, the visitors scored 175/3 before suffering a collapse.
They lost their last seven wickets for 43 runs in the first innings. Kuldeep Yadav was the wrecker-in-chief, as he picked up five wickets for 72 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin, playing his 100th Test, contributed with four wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja took one on Day 1.
In response, the home team put up a formidable total of 477 runs with the help of centuries from skipper Rohit Sharma (103) and Shubman Gill (110). Yashasvi Jaiswal (57), Devdutt Padikkal (65), and Sarfaraz Khan (56) made crucial contributions in the first innings.
Shoaib Bashir secured his second five-wicket haul in the series, with support from James Anderson (2) and Tom Hartley (2). England skipper Ben Stokes also managed to take one wicket. The hosts took a commanding 259-run lead after the completion of the first innings.
