Saurashtra Cricket Association has named Indian left-arm seamer Jaydev Unadkat as the captain of a 20-member Saurashtra squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. Saurashtra is placed alongside Kashmir, Haryana, Bengal, Chandigarh, and Services in the Elite group E with the tournament likely to start on February 20. All the matches of Saurshtras Group will take place in Kolkata.
Due to the Covid protocols and restrictions, all the players of the tournament have been requested to assemble in their respective group venues by February 13 to undergo tests and quarantines. The first assignment for Jaydev Unadkat is set to start against Jammu and Kashmir on February 21 in the tournament. This will be the first assignment for him after he got married to his girlfriend Rinny earlier last week.

The young wicket-keeper batsman Harvik Desai who represented India U-19 has also been named to the squad. Left-arm pacer Chetan Sakariya and 30-year-old slow-left arm orthodox bowler Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, along with off-spinner Kamlesh Makwana have all made it to the squad.

Unadkat Retained By Royals
Rajasthan Royals Retained Jaydev Unadkat ahead of the upcoming IPL auction 2021 which will be a pleasing factor for him to do well in this season. He had a prolific season in 2017 IPL playing for the Rising Pune Supergiants but has never been able to produce some kind of performances and has been found wanting most of the times. He will be looking to make it big this year in the IPL as well as the Vijay Hazare Trophy to break into the Indian limited-overs setup again for the T20 WorldCup coming up in October.
Jaydev Unadkat led Saurashtra to their maiden Ranji title in 2019 and finished as their leading wicket-taker in the season.
