Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa has made a shocking claim about the ‘Mr Fix-it’ controversy that stunned Indian cricket during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Before the final Test against Sydney in Australia, the news reports emerged that a senior player was trying to portray himself as the interim captain.
Virat Kohli was seen as a suspect of the whole controversy as the Indian Express report claimed that a ‘Mr Fix-it’ was trying to take the reigns of the Indian team in the wake of Rohit Sharma's poor form with the bat.
Uthappa believes that Kohli or KL Rahul can be the suspects in this unfortunate controversy. While he didn't take the exact name, Uthappa slammed that player for trying to disturb the dressing room environment.

While speaking to Lallantop, Robin Uthappa opened up on the whole ‘Mr Fix-it’ controversy and revealed his own methods when he was in the dressing room. He feels that it is not right to disturb a player in the middle of a series or a tournament.
“I am the kind of person, if something is going on, I directly mention it. In the team, I know people individually. But when a tour is going on, a tournament is going on, I don’t talk to any of them because every player has his own routine and mindset," Uthappa said.
"At that point, it doesn’t feel right to enter into their space. So I don’t talk to anyone during a tournament, nor do I message anyone, even if they play good or bad. If they are playing bad, then I do drop a message to motivate them."
"If they have done well, made some records, then I congratulate them. But besides that I don’t interact. But in this, I don’t know who is Mr Fix-it. People say it is speculation. For me, in the Indian team, there is no smoke without fire," he added.
Who is 'Mr Fix it' according to Robin Uthappa?
When asked to identify the player, Robin Uthappa predicted the player to be a senior one and specifically named Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. He slammed the player for trying to create differences during an important series.
“It is senior players. “It could be KL Rahul, Virat Kohli. We think Rahul is not senior, he has been in the side for the last eight-nine years. In that sense, it is speculative. But there is another side to this also,” the former India opener observed.
“But for me what do I care about, the Indian team being perceived right. Especially during the course of an important series. This is the most important series and during that, even if that happens, keep it inside, why take it outside? Families have differences at any point in time,” he added.
Rohit Sharma dropped himself from Sydney Test
India's regular captain Rohit Sharma endured poor form with the bat and scored just 31 runs in three Tests in the Test series against Australia at a miserable average of 6.20. Rohit dropped himself for the last Test in Sydney due to his poor form.
Jasprit Bumrah led India in Sydney but couldn't prevent the team from losing the series 1-3 to the hosts Australia. Bumrah got injured midway during the Sydney Test and Virat Kohli took over as India's captain.
While Rohit endured a poor run, Virat Kohli too had a disappointing series. Kohli scored 190 runs in five Tests at an average of 23.75. Even when Rohit was the captain, Kohli was seen engaging with the players as a captain on numerous occasions.
