Three members of India’s squad for the ongoing Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 have lavished praise on Virat Kohli’s iconic knock against Pakistan during the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten half-century as India chased down 160 on the final ball of the match to register a miraculous win.

India had started their chase in a disastrous manner and were reeling at 31 for 4 before Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya steadied the ship with a century-plus stand. The equation was finally down to 48 runs from the last three overs.

With the likes of Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf to bowl two of those three overs, the game was looking well out of India’s reach. Virat Kohli, however, had other plans. The former India skipper played one of the best knocks of all time and took Pakistan’s star bowlers to the cleaners to guide India to a miraculous win.

In the 18th over, he hit Afridi to three fours. He then finished the 19th over by smashing Rauf’s last two deliveries for two majestic sixes. In the 20th over too, Virat Kohli hit spinner Mohammad Nawaz for one more six before India overcame a few hiccups to eventually cross the finishing line on the final ball.

Young stars on Virat Kohli’s knock:

Currently in Sri Lanka for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023, Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag and Sai Sudharsan opened up on the great innings from Virat Kohli. In a video posted by Star Sports on Twitter, Sharma was the first to speak as he said that the India batting superstar has played the best T20 knock till date.

“Virat Kohli has played the best T20 inning till date. Even as players, we were thinking that we might have lost the game. And to win from that position is very memorable for all of us,” said Sharma.

Riyan Parag, on the other hand, said: ” We went out for a coffee and we were watching the game on Hotstar. I was like no way, Virat’s not doing this. The look in his face, the look in his eyes.

“That’s the most comfortable shot he plays most often but then it’s just with the vibe, with the flow, with the energy, I think it came off as icing on the cake. Beautiful,” he added.

Sudharsan said that Virat Kohli’s knock helped him believe more in his abilities, saying: “It was like a superhuman shot. I really enjoyed the innings specifically. After that, I also got the belief that I play very similar to him, so it’s more of ideas, more of technique. If you work on it, you will definitely get it. I think that’s the take away from that shot “
