Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir To Lead Gujarat Giants, India Capitals In Legends League Cricket

Former Indian openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag will make a return to the cricket pitch in the upcoming Legends League Cricket (LLC). The tournament will be played The entire tournament will be played from September 16 to October 8, 2022, in five cities across India. The tournament which will comprise four teams and a total of 16 matches will be played to celebrate the 75th year of India’s independence.
Virender Sehwag will lead the Adani Group-owned Gujarat Giants while his opening partner Gautam Gambhir, will be the skipper of the GMR Group-owned India Capitals.

Sehwag spoke about the upcoming tournament and coming back to the cricket field. He also spoke about his pleasure in reassociating with a professional commitment with the Adani Group.
“I am excited to get back to the Cricket ground again. Having Adani Group as Team Principal and a professional outfit like Gujarat Giants is a perfect way to kick start this cricketing innings once again. I have personally always believed in playing fearless cricket and I will continue to propagate the same brand of cricket here too. We are extremely excited and eagerly waiting for the draft to pick our team,” said Sehwag.
Gambhir also spoke about leading the India Capitals in the upcoming tournament. Since retiring from cricket, the southpaw has stayed close to the game. He is even involved in the IPL as the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants.
“I have always believed cricket is a team game and a captain is as good as his team. While I will be leading the India Capitals team, I will be pushing for a spirited team who are passionate and eager to go out and win as a team. I wish Legends League Cricket all the very best and am looking forward to the upcoming action,” said Gambhir.
The campaign will begin with a game between India Maharajas and the World Giants at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The Indian team will be led by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly while Eoin Morgan will lead the World Giants.
Apart from Kolkata which will host three matches between September 16 to 18 matches will also be played in New Delhi, Cuttack, Lucknow, and Jodhpur. All the grounds will have three matches each apart from Jodhpur and Lucknow, where two matches will be played. The venues for the playoffs and the final of the Legends League Cricket 2022 will be announced later.
