Former international cricketers Wasim Jaffer and Michael Vaughan are known for their playful social media interactions, with both regularly teasing each other.
The friendly banter between Wasim Jaffer and Michael Vaughan continued after England's victory in the second Test against Sri Lanka.
England defeated Sri Lanka by 190 runs in the second Test match on Sunday, September 1.
The Ollie Pope-led team took an unassailable 2-0 lead and secured the series with one match remaining. Sri Lanka has registered below-par scores throughout the ongoing three-match Test series.
Test Cricket Needs To Be 2 Divisions - Michael Vaughan
The Dhananjaya de Silva-led team has faced criticism for their poor performance against England. Sri Lanka has lost the two Test matches in the ongoing series in just days. Following the second Test, Michael Vaughan came up with a unique suggestion to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Vaughan stated that Test cricket should be played in two divisions of six teams each. The former England skipper also added that funds should be distributed more evenly among nations.
"Test cricket needs to be 2 Divisions of 6 ASAP .. and spread the wealth of the game more evenly across all countries .. 👍," Vaughan wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Vaughan feels that restructuring Test cricket into two divisions will improve the competitiveness of teams in the longer format of the game. Following their dominant victory over Sri Lanka in the second Test, England has climbed to fourth place in the rankings in the ICC WTC 2023-25 points table.
He Didn't Tweet This A Month Ago - Wasim Jaffer
Wasim Jaffer responded with the World Test Championship 2023-25 points table. The former Indian opener stated that Michael Vaughan didn’t share the comments when England were at the bottom of the table last month.
"Timing is everything. And Michael is a wise man who understands that. That's why he didn't tweet this a month ago when WTC table looked like this 😉 #WTC25 #ENGvSL," Wasim Jaffer wrote.

It's Meaningless Cricket - Ravi Shastri
Former India coach Ravi Shastri also supported introducing six or seven Test-playing teams to enhance the quality and interest.
Shastri said that having fewer teams could improve the game’s appeal and prevent it from becoming less relevant due to the popularity of the T20 leagues.
"When you don't have quality, that is when the ratings drop, there are fewer people in the crowd, it's meaningless cricket, which is the last thing the sport wants. You have 12 Test match teams. Bring it down to six or seven and have a promotion and relegation system," said Shastri.
The final Test match between England and Sri Lanka will be played at the Kennington Oval in London, starting on Friday, September 6. Meanwhile, India will begin their home season with a two-match Test series against Bangladesh, followed by a three-match Test series against New Zealand.
