Axar Patel scores 27 against Australia in a high-voltage match

While chasing the target of 265 runs, India were off to a poor start Shubman Gill was dismissed for a low score. Soon, Rohit Sharma, who got two lifelines, was back in the hut after scoring 28 runs off 29 balls.

After the dismissal of the duo, Virat Kohli joined forces with Shreyas Iyer, and together, the duo bailed India out of trouble by showcasing a batting masterclass. They together added 91 runs off 111 balls, before the dismissal of Shreyas Iyer.

Axar Patel came in to bat next and, along with Virat Kohli, built a 44-run partnership. He batted quite well but was dismissed in the 35th over of the innings.

On the 5th ball of the over, Nathan Ellis bowled a short-of-length delivery to Axar Patel, who heaved it across the line and missed the ball, leading to his stumps being rattled.

Axar Patel took a long walk back to the pavilion after scoring 27 runs off 30 balls with 1 four and 1 six.

Australia have a pretty good score - Michael Atherton

Speaking on Sky Sports, former Australia opener Matthew Hayden said that the Steve Smith-led side were 20 runs short of the winning score. He said:

"When you think about the way Australia set their innings up - in the 37th over, Smith was still there...Smith got out [with the score] on 198 and then Maxwell on 205, that moment is why I say they're 20 runs short. But, this is a semi-final of a global event - the ICC Champions Trophy is coveted - and scoreboard pressure matters."

Meanwhile, Michael Atherton said that the Aussies registered a good score, but missed the opportunity to add 20 more runs to the total. He said:

"Australia have a pretty good score - 264 in a knockout game puts pressure on the chasing side - but they left a few runs out there after losing wickets at the wrong times. Smith and then Maxwell.

"This also looks the best pitch we have seen in Dubai in this tournament. The odd ball has spun but not a lot. Australia will be frustrated they didn't score 20 more."

Also, the former Australia captain Aaron Finch said that India would chase the target easily. He said:

"I think India will be happy with that. Head got off to a flier but Shami was brilliant again. All the bowlers were to be fair. They didn't allow Australia to get away from them at any stage and will be very confident of chasing this down."
