Watch: Baba Indrajith’s brave comeback despite hamstring injury cut short by Tilak Varma’s blinder

India C batter Baba Indrajith gave his best for the team in the final of the Duleep Trophy 2024 against India A. The last game of the tournament took place at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur.
India C was down and dusted and had lost 8 wickets early. To ensure the title win, they needed to save the game, but it seemed an uphill task. They had lost their main batters, and their best batter, Baba Indrajith, was injured as well as he was down with a hamstring issue.
The match went down the wire as just 7 overs were left and India A needed just 2 wickets. However, it was then that Baba Indrajith decided to save the game for his team. Despite being in pain, the right-hander came to bat to win the trophy for his team, but unfortunately, he couldn't as he fell on the second ball.

Baba Indrajith got out to the brilliance of Tilak Varma in the field. Prasidh Krishna bowled a delivery to which the batter tucked it fine. But India A fielder, who was in the leg slip region, put in a sensational dive and plucked a blinder to send the batter packing in the game.

Indrajith suffered a left hamstring injury as he attempted a single on the third ball of the 34th over. He clutched his hamstring as he grasped his leg and collapsed in pain. The keeper-batter didn't look fine as he was carried off the field on a stretcher and Manav Suthar replaced him.
At the time he got injured, Indrajith was batting at 34 runs off 61 balls with five boundaries. After that, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the official statement that the batter had been ruled out of the tournament and wouldn't be taking further part in it.
"Baba Indrajith, who retired hurt on 34, didn't come out to bat again for India C due to a hamstring injury. He will take no further part in the match," read the statement from BCCI.
Indrajith had a great outing in the Duleep Trophy with the bat. The Tamil Nadu batter played an innings of 72 runs in the first innings of the Round 1 match against India D. After that in the next game against India B, he came up with 78 runs off 136 balls, featuring nine boundaries.
India A won the Duleep Trophy 2024 as after the wicket of Indrajith, they removed Anshul Kamboj to win the game. They bundled out the opposition for 217 runs to win the trophy under the leadership of Mayank Agarwal.
Prasidh Krishna and Tanush Kotian picked three wickets while Aaqib Khan also bagged wickets two wickets. With the bat, Shaswat Rawat slammed a century in the first innings and then hit a half-century in the second innings.
