With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma not making an impact, it has been many questioning their place in the team now. There have been many calls for the overhaul of the team in the format, and many are of the opinion that both should retire from Tests as well.

Amid all this, BCCI chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar wasted no time and was seen having a chat with Gautam Gambhir. He was seen discussing with head coach and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, and the trio was seen engaged in a lengthy, tense chat.

One of the major causes of concern for Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir would be India's batting collapses and their inability to chase down achievable targets. As many as 37 Indian wickets fell to spin, which in itself was the biggest thing, as Indian batters are generally touted as good players of spin.

Gautam Gambhir, in particular, has come under scanner. Ever since he was appointed as the head coach of the team, things haven't been great. They first faced a series loss to Sri Lanka in ODIs and now the series defeat to New Zealand in Tests at home wouldn't have done any good.
