India National Cricket Team all-rounder Hardik Pandya hit the England National Cricket Team modern-day great Joe Root with a brutal throw in the third and final ODI of the series.

The match between the Three Lions and the Men In Blue was held on Wednesday, February 12, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Hardik Pandya shines for India

The star all-rounder scored a quickfire 17 runs off 9 balls in the third ODI against England and played a decent hand in India posting a gigantic total of 356 runs on the board.

Then, he impressed with the ball in the second innings as well. Hardik Pandya was given five overs by his skipper, and he managed to bag two wickets by giving away 38 runs. Pandya picked his first wicket by dismissing leg-spinner Adil Rashid and then he cleaned up Mark Wood, which was England's ninth wicket.

However, Hardik Pandya's innings with the bat and spell with the ball didn't get as much attention as his antics during the match.

Notably, Hardik Pandya was his aggressive best during the second innings, and it was seen to the full extent during the 15th over.

On the first ball of the over, Hardik Pandya bowled a length ball to Joe Root on the off-stump line and the English batter played it straight back towards the Indian all-rounder.

Pandya was very quick to collect the ball, and he fired back a throw at Joe Root, who was outside the crease, and the ball hit him straight on the boots. Hardik Pandya saw the funny side of it and Joe Root just ignored the incident and moved on.

Root, meanwhile, failed miserably in the match as he scored just 24 runs off 29 balls, with 2 fours, before Axar Patel rattled his stumps. Also, the Three Lions faced a 142-run loss in the match and got whitewashed in the three-match series.

Who Were India’s Top Performers In The Previous ODI vs England?

India won the second ODI in Cuttack in a brilliant manner, and several players played a key role in the series-clinching triumph.

The skipper and opening batsman, Rohit Sharma, led from the front with his sensational century (119 off 90). He looked at his brutal best, smashing 12 fours and 7 sixes in an exceptional innings. His century laid the foundation for India’s chase and earned him the Player of the Match award in international cricket after a very long time.

Rohit's opening partner and vice-captain, Shubman Gill (60 off 52), provided support to the skipper and played some elegant strokes while adding 136 runs for the opening stand. His knock and the partnership with Rohit ensured India got ahead in the chase early.

The veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (3/35 & 11 runs) looked at his very best once again in the Cuttack ODI, and he was outstanding with the ball, taking crucial wickets of Ben Duckett, Joe Root, and Jamie Overton. Also, he provided the finishing touches and hit the winning runs to seal the match.

Jadeja's spin-bowling partner Axar Patel (41 off 43) was unsuccessful with the ball in the match but he remained calm while batting despite wickets falling around him and took India to a victory.

Also, Varun Chakravarthy (1/54), who made his ODI debut in Cuttack, looked quite good and picked up the key wicket of Phil Salt while bowling economically in the middle overs.
