England National Cricket Team batter Harry Brook had a decent outing with the bat in the ongoing first Test against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. The opening game of the three-match Test series between the teams is currently taking place at the Old Trafford in Manchester.

Harry Brook continued his golden touch with the bat as he played yet again valuable innings for the England National Cricket Team in Test cricket. The right-hander came out to bat when the team was struggling to get going and lost three quick wickets, reeling at 67/3.

Brook, who has been assigned the role of vice-captain in the ongoing series, bailed his team out of trouble and made sure that they got some runs on the board. The young batter played glorious shots in his innings and made many stand and applaud him for his heroics.

Brook, who has been going through the purple patch in Test cricket, put the pressure back on the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team bowlers. He added 58 runs with Joe Root (42) first and then stitched a 68-run stand with Jamie Smith, who is approaching yet another half-century in Test cricket.

With the way Harry Brook was going, he looked all set for a big ton. But his stay at the crease by cut short by the brilliance of the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team spinner Prabath Jayasuriya. The bowler came with a dream delivery for spinner and made sure that he sent well-set Brook back in the hut.

Prabath Jayasuriya bowled a delivery that pitched on the leg stump and went on to hit the top of the off stump. Harry Brook got squared up on the back foot and by the time he tried to poke, the ball whistled past his outside edge to knock the stump. With the kind of delivery it was, the batter hardly could've done anything.

Harry Brook racked up his 9th Test half-century for the England National Cricket Team. The batter ended with an inning of 56 runs off 73 balls. His valuable knock ensured that the team went past 200 runs over the board. After he got out, it has been Jamie Smith, who has taken over the charge and is keeping his team in the hunt.

For the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team, Asitha Fernando has been the pick of the bowlers. The fast bowler troubled the England top order and picked three wickets in Ben Duckett (19), Ollie Pope (6) and Joe Root (42). While Vishwa Fernando has also picked one wicket.

Earlier on Day 1, England took command of the game. They were asked to field first, and they came up with a magical effort with the ball as they picked wickets in quick succession of time.

England bundled out Sri Lanka for just 236 runs, with Chris Woakes and Shoaib Bashir picking three wickets each. They are high on confidence as they recently won the three-match Test series against West Indies.
