Litton Das is the captain of Bangladesh in the ongoing BAN vs NZ ODI series. During the Bangladesh vs New Zealand 2nd ODI on Saturday, September 3, Litton Das broke his bat after getting out cheaply.
Litton Das arrived to open the innings for Bangladesh as they intended to chase down a 255-run target in the match. However, the right-handed batsman could not bat for long as he became a victim of Kyle Jamieson in the 6th over of the match.

Litton Das tried to smash an upper cut off pacer Kyle Jamieson’s delivery. However, the ball was caught by Rachin Ravindra near the third-man position. While returning to the pavilion, Das broke his bat in anger. The video of the moment went viral on social media. Have a look at the video below.

Litton Das’ wicket was a big blow to Bangladesh as they lost the match in the end. Batting first, New Zealand piled up 254-10 in the 1st innings. They lost openers Finn Allen (12) and Will Young (0) cheaply.
However, middle-order batter Henry Nicholls scored 49 runs and Tom Blundell (68) slammed a crucial half-century. Spinner Ish Sodhi (35) also added some runs towards the end. Khaled Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan hunted 3 wickets each for Bangladesh. Pacer Mustafizur Rahman grabbed 2 scalps.
During the chase, Bangladesh lost Litton Das cheaply for 6 runs. His opener partner Tamim Iqbal smacked a crucial knock of 44 runs. However, middle-order batters like Tanzid Hasan (16), Soumya Sarkar (0), and Towhid Hridoy (4) lost their wickets cheaply.
For New Zealand, leg spinner Ish Sodhi arrived with an impeccable spell, clinching 6 wickets for 39 runs in his kitty. Mahmudullah hit a valiant 49-run knock for Bangladesh but it wasn’t enough to bring the team home. Getting out for 168, the home team lost the match by 86 runs. Ish Sodhi won the Player of the Match award for his brilliant bowling show.

After two games, New Zealand lead the three-match ODI series 1-0. The opening ODI game was washed out due to rain. BAN vs NZ 3rd ODI is set to be played on Tuesday, September 26. The venue of the encounter is Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
