Marcus Stoinis has started his IPL 2020 campaign in a brilliant fashion by smashing a 20-ball fifty against Kings XI Punjab to help his side Delhi Capitals put up a competitive total. He was eventually out in the final over after smashing 53 off just 21 balls with the help of seven fours and three sixes.

Asked to bat first, Delhi Capitals were off to a disastrous start. Their openers Shikhar Dhawan (0) and Prithvi Shaw (5) departed for just 9 runs on the board. 4 runs later, Shimron Hetmyer departed too. Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant stopped the rot for a while but struggled to get the runs.

At one stage, Delhi were reeling at 96 for 6 in the 17th over and 150-mark was looking like a distant dream. However, Marcus Stoinis had some other plans in his mind. The Australian allrounder took the attack to the Kings XI Punjab camp from the 18th over and propelled Delhi Capitals to 157 for 8.

He shifted gears in the 18th over by hitting Chris Jordan for a four and a six. In the 19th over bowled by Sheldon Cottrell, he smashed three fours before collecting 30 runs off the final over bowled by Jordan. The right-handed batsman smashed three fours and two sixes in the 20th over to take Delhi to a challenging total against all the odds.
