Mumbai Indians owners Akash Ambani and Nita Ambani were left shellshocked as Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down a massive 244-run target inside 19 overs as the home team was handed the humiliation in the IPL 2026 clash at the packed Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, April 29.
Mumbai Indians (MI) looked set for a big win, but by the end of the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) left the home team disappointed with a massive six-wicket win at the Wankhede Stadium. Following the crushing loss, Nita Ambani’s reaction said it all.
Ambanis left shocked as SRH pull off stunning chase
After opting to bat first, the MI team finally delivered with the bat. Ryan Rickelton played a brilliant knock of an unbeaten 123 off 55 balls to help the home team post 243 runs on the board against SRH. Nita Ambani and Akash Ambani were clearly enjoying the moment.

But the second innings turned out to be a complete disaster for the team and its owner. Sunrisers Hyderabad came out with a full attacking mindset. The SRH openers, Travis Head (76 runs off 30 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (45 runs off 24 balls) played blistering knocks to put MI on the back foot from the start of the second innings.
As Salil Arora (30* off 10 balls) and Heinrich Klaasen (65* off 30 balls) finished the game for SRH, the camera showed the Mumbai Indians camp again at the Wankhede Stadium.

Kieron Pollard refuses to give up on the Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2026 hopes
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians may be struggling badly in the ongoing IPL 2026, but their batting coach, Kieron Pollard, is not ready to give up yet. Pollard made it clear that the team still believes it can turn things around after its sixth loss in just eight matches this season.
The five-time IPL champions are currently sitting near the bottom of the points table with only two wins, but Pollard said the dressing room is still positive and the players are determined to fight back in the remaining matches to make it to the playoffs despite the race being almost over for them.
We've not accepted defeat in this tournament: Pollard
Kieron Pollard said at the post-match press conference, “We have not accepted defeat, but we have accepted that we have been on the losing side more often than not so far in this tournament. When I said 'defeat,' I didn't want the headlines to suggest that the Mumbai Indians are out of the tournament, because mathematically and from a points perspective, we are still very much in it.”
The coach added, “So yes, we have accepted the losses, because we have lost the last couple of games. But overall, we have not accepted defeat in this tournament, because we are not out of it. We will go back, assess what we can do, and see how far we can go in the tournament.”
